General Exhibition Rules and Regulations

  • Only Artist(s) submitting original works or prints are eligible to exhibit in the program.
  • Cultural institutions, arts organizations, and museums submitting Artist(s) approved original works or prints will also be eligible to participate.
  • All proposals and call for artists will be evaluated by the Artists Review Panel. The Artists Review Panel will base their selection on the CLE Art Program established criteria to ensure a selection of high-quality art that engages and reflects Northeast Ohio’s culture as experienced by diverse cultures.
  • Artwork exhibited must be appropriate for viewing by all ages of the general public.  Artwork that is of an overtly sexual, racist, violent, libelous, slanderous, demoralizing,  or discriminatory nature is strictly prohibited
  • After the exhibition timeframe has expired, each Artist is responsible for retrieving his/her artwork within two weeks of notification.  The City of Cleveland (“the City”) will not be responsible for unclaimed artwork.  Every attempt will be made by the City to notify Artist(s). After all reasonable attempts to contact the Artist(s) have been made any unclaimed artwork after a period of 30 days will become the property of the City.
  • Arrangements for retrieval of art must be made at a time designated by the City.
  • Artist(s) not selected for consideration will be notified in writing.
  • The City will not be liable for any costs incurred by the Artist(s) associated with the preparation of a submitted proposal.
  • The Artist(s) is responsible for the delivery of Artworks. Packing, transportation of and handling expense and risk of loss or damage incurred in the delivery of artworks from the Artist(s) to the Airport and in their return to the Artist(s), shall be the responsibility of the Artist(s). 
  • The Artist(s) is responsible for insuring the Artwork.  The Artist(s) understands the risks of displaying the Artwork in a public space.  The City is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged artwork.
  • The City will be responsible for installing the Artwork at a place designated in the Airport, if the exhibit is installed by the City.  However, if installed by Artist(s), the City will not be responsible for any risk of loss or damage incurred in installing the exhibit.
  • The Artist(s) will enter into a formal agreement indicating the conditions of the display unless otherwise indicated.
  • These Rules and Regulations are subject to change as needed by the City of Cleveland
