Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) had a total of 9,072,126 passengers in 2013 for an increase of 0.68%. That equates to nearly 25,000 passengers a day at the airport. Passenger traffic in 2012 totaled 9,010,473.

“While the increase is modest, we still look at it as a great positive,” Airport Director Ricky Smith said. “Over the last several years largely due to the national recession, CLE has experienced passenger traffic reductions. This increase is an indicator that demand is slowly coming back. That being said, there remains work to do to sustain this trend.”

December helped push CLE’s passenger traffic numbers over the top with a 6.25% increase over December 2012.

Contributing to the increase in passengers was a 32% increase in international travelers. CLE offers nonstop international service to Montreal, Toronto, Cancun, Punta Cana and Nassau.

CLE is the 40th busiest airport in the nation based on passengers.
