Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) experienced its busiest summer since 2009, and has continued to surpass year-over-year passenger numbers during the airport’s 100 days of summer from June to August.

CLE continues to find new ways for visitors to have a better experience. This summer was no exception for our customers who chose to travel to and from Cleveland and made this year the busiest since 2009.

During 2018 summer travel season, CLE welcomed 2,718,738 passengers which is 72,204 more guests than last summer. These numbers even exceeded the airport’s 2016 summer passenger count by 370,609 (+15.78 percent) which included the Republican National Convention (RNC).

“While we know this is a busy travel season, these numbers have surpassed our expectations,” said Airport Director Robert Kennedy. “CLE has become a preferred airport of choice for this region and we are excited and continue the work to provide CLE guests with an easy, stress free and enjoyable travel experience.”

CLE has had consecutive passenger growth for 18 months since March of 2017. Year-to-date traffic is up 6.12 percent and CLE is on track to reach its 2018 forecast of 9.6 million passengers.
