Cleveland, Ohio – October 9th, 2025 — Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) will host its 1st Annual Hopkins Flight School event on November 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This new initiative, part of the Hopkins Hospitality Program, aims to make CLE a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all travelers.
Designed for individuals who may experience anxiety, have special needs, or feel uncertain about flying, the event offers participants a chance to take a practice run through the entire airport experience, from check-in and security screening to boarding an aircraft, all without ever leaving the ground.
“We understand that flying can be overwhelming for some people,” said Megan O’Connell, Assistant Director of Marketing, Communications & Guest Experience. “This event gives individuals a chance to move through the airport experience at their own pace and feel more comfortable before their next flight.”
Whether you’re a first-time flyer, someone with a fear of flying, or a caregiver supporting a family member with special needs, this event provides a low-stress opportunity to become familiar with the airport process in a supportive and understanding environment.
Guests will begin on the ticketing level before proceeding through the TSA Security Checkpoint and on to a departure gate, as if preparing for an actual flight. CLE is partnering with United Airlines to allow participants to board an aircraft as part of the experience.
Participants will receive sensory bags, and refreshments will be served at the gate.
The Hopkins Hospitality Program also includes initiatives such as the Airport Ambassador Program, Hopkins Hangout Pass, Hopkins Hounds, and the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program.
Space is limited, and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each participant needing assistance may bring one caregiver to accompany them during the event.
