Did you know that hundreds of billions of plastic water bottles are used around the world every year? Many of these bottles are used for just a few minutes before ending up in landfills, oceans and waterways, where they can take hundreds of years to break down.
At Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, we believe even small travel choices can create a big environmental impact. That’s why CLE continues to expand access to free water bottle fill stations throughout the terminal, making it easier than ever for travelers to stay hydrated while reducing plastic waste. Since installing our first four fill stations in 2017, CLE has grown to approximately 13 stations airport-wide, helping passengers make more sustainable choices every day.
And together, those choices are adding up:
- More than 3,500 plastic bottles avoided every single day
- Over 25,000 bottles prevented from entering the waste stream every week
- Nearly 1.4 million plastic bottles avoided annually at CLE alone
One reusable bottle may seem small, but multiplied across millions of travelers, the impact is powerful.
Bringing your own reusable bottle not only helps reduce single-use plastic pollution, but also saves money and supports a cleaner, greener future for air travel. Once through security, travelers can refill with free, clean drinking water at stations located throughout the airport.
