Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is moving forward with the full replacement of 51,000 linear feet of its Wildlife Perimeter Fence to meet the latest Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards.

This new fencing system is designed to actively prevent wildlife from entering the airfield by blocking access above and below ground. Crews are installing upgraded fence skirting to stop burrowing animals and are replacing all associated gates and mechanical components. Additional safety and security improvements are also included as part of the project.

C&S Companies completed the project design in support of this $24 million initiative.

Work is expected to last approximately 18 months.

Funding for the project includes contributions from the FAA, airport funds, and an ODOT grant agreement providing state matching funds to FAA Grant 1322024 in the amount of $134,323.
