Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) is committed to ensuring that all passengers, visitors, and employees have a safe and enjoyable environment in which to travel and work.  We continue to work with our federal and local safety and security agencies, and our airport stakeholders, to ensure that we meet your needs and expectations.

New security regulations affecting security at our airport became effective following the unprecedented events of September 11, 2001.   We continue to evaluate and enhance those security measures to ensure that the level of security meets and exceeds mandated federal requirements.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is charged with the responsibility of screening all checked baggage.  The TSA has requested that passengers leave their checked baggage unlocked to avoid the necessity for security screeners to forcibly unlock their luggage should it require inspection.

The TSA is also charged with the responsibility of screening all passengers and carry-on baggage prior to allowing entry into the airport concourses.  Passengers are advised to arrive 90 minutes prior to their scheduled flight departure time to ensure that they and their bags have enough time to go through the screening process and be transported to the aircraft.

Allow Extra Time for Special Circumstances.   During busy periods, or when traveling with young children, infants, elderly or disabled passengers, you should plan to build extra time into your travel plans.

For additional information on average wait-time information, visit the TSA website at http://www.tsa.gov.
