Now that the merger between American Airlines and US Airways has happened, what do customers need to know? In the immediate future, not much will change. Both airlines will still run as two separate airlines and will maintain our separate locations at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE). American flights will continue to operate out of Gates A1 & A3 and US Airways flights out of A8,10, & A7.
In early January, the two airlines will begin a codeshare partnership. As part of this codeshare, it’s important that customers understand that they must check in with the airline operating the first segment of their trip. If you're flying on American first, you will need to check in at American Ticket Counter. Likewise, if your first flight is operated by US Airways, you will need to check in at US Airways.
